Our Board

Membership Description

The CCWC is made up of between five and eleven members (volunteers) who reside in Washington County or are members of a business or organization significantly involved in arts, heritage or humanities activities in Washington County.

CCWC Meetings

The CCWC meets on the days/times listed to the right. New members work with current board members to review and either maintain the meeting schedule as stated, or mutually agree on a new meeting schedule.

Additional meetings are required for the annual board retreat, grant review process, and committee assignments.

How to Join the Board

The CCWC is an all-volunteer body. Board members are residents of, or own property in Washington County, own a business or rent studio space in Washington County, or operate an arts group or school that serves Washington County.

The diverse group of volunteers who comprise the CCWC board share the common interest of promoting the success of the arts, cultural, and heritage organizations and entities of Washington County, a shared belief that the arts and cultural sectors are valuable, and a passion for supporting this work in the community.

A board member’s term is three years and begins from the month they are appointed. A Director may be elected for up to two consecutive three-year terms. Directors may serve additional terms after at least a one year hiatus from Board service. Board members are asked near the end of their term if they wish to commit to another year of service.

Members agree to attend a majority of official board meetings held in a year and to serve on at least one board committee. There are anywhere from four to eight full board meetings a year, and a board meeting is usually two hours long.

Much of the work of the board is done remotely, with board members collaborating together via phone and electronic communications, but votes are held only during official meetings.

Potential board members self-nominate for roles, and nominations are reviewed by the current board as they are submitted. The board then chooses which nominees to interview, and after the interview, a vote is held regarding board membership of nominees. All applicants will receive a timely response on the status of their board application.

Thank you for your interest in serving on the CCWC!
